Vineyard and Name:
This unique site in Kenton Valley, Adelaide Hills stands tall at 490m above sea level with breathtaking views. My first feeling here was calming and my first thought was purity and clarity, hence ‘Lucid View’.
It speaks to the wine here too. A defined and purposeful Chardonnay showcasing a purity that respects the site. The minerality of the wine poised against texture and tension of the other components.
Winery:
Hand-picked to allow a 100% Whole bunch pressing. Straight to Pressing for a gentle Press with great care not to over extract. Like a firm cuddle that doesn’t crush the sole. Goal- maintain the sole of the fruit, meaning let it be true to itself. Like a child we should only guide them and not force things.
“What else did you do you might ask?”
Well, not a whole a lot. Settle gross solids and rack to tank leaving on fine Lees for a Wild yeast ferment.
That’s right, we let it go wild!
Wild and slow that is. This is slowest ferment I have ever had in 25 years of making wine (10 weeks). Did it matter, not at all in fact it could be argued it was doing its thing and that thing was doing just right by the wine. The extended time fermenting on fine Lees has created a gorgeous integration of texture. Partial Malo to soften acid and add complexity and mouthfeel.
